Be a Part of Coaching History on 13th February 2010

National CycleSkill Coach Day - 13th February 2010
Cycling Australia is pleased to announce the public launch of a new and improved version of the NCAS CycleSkill Coach Training Program. To celebrate the launch, Cycling Australia has decided to run a National CycleSkill Coach Day to officially introduce the updated training program to the public. This will involve each State and Territory delivering the new, updated Cycling Australia NCAS CycleSkill Coach Training Program on 13th February and targeting Australia-wide training of over 100 CycleSkill coaches in one day!

“We are very excited about this initiative, coaches play such an integral role in the development of cyclists at all levels and the sport could not survive without them. This gives us an opportunity to bring many new coaches into the sport at grassroots level and build a base for the future of cycling coaching across Australia" said Brendan Moriarty, Cycling Australia's National Coaching Coordinator.

Brendan added: "All of the State/Territory Organistion Development staff have been extremely accomodating in the planning of this day and they will be rewarded with the influx of new coaches."

He continued "This course has always specifically targeted the coach who aims to assist novice cyclists in the areas of basic cycle skills, the correct choice and fitting of cycling equipment and optimising bicycle set-up. Now, a practical coaching module has been included to better prepare coaches for the hands-on coaching they will be doing after the course.”

For more information about the NCAS CycleSkill Coach Training Program, please download the Information Sheet.

To apply to attend your local NCAS CycleSkill Coach Training Program on 13th February, please the Coaching Contacts section of the website to find details of your State/Territory Organisation's course facilitator.

Just a gentle reminder for anyone interested in coaching. This is the starter level. It will be run by Sian Mulholland.

This is an extremely useful qualification to have. It's also not too hard to get - just a workbook, run a short skills session and attend the training day. The training day is a lot of fun, too. The club has reimbursed members for the cost once they're qualified, so I'd presume that's still the go.

I reckon you can get around that, if you contact Sian. You'll do the training day, then the work book in your own time and the practical later. So long as you get it before you submit.
