A MOTORIST who allegedly set his dog on to a cyclist who had fallen off his bike is facing theft and intimidation charges.

Police said the driver stopped to check on the stricken cyclist before encouraging his American pit bull to attack his victim on Ann Street, Mooroopna, central Victoria, early on Sunday morning.

The motorist then allegedly grabbed the 21-year-old cyclist's wallet, mobile phone and keys before driving off, sparking a police manhunt.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said a 28-year-old Mooroopna man handed himself into police on Monday night and was expected to be charged on summons with urging his dog to attack a person and theft.
It's no wonder cyclists take the law into their own hands like the recent bus driver incident when the law is so soft. You get a greater penalty for parking in a loading zone.

The three-year-old unregistered pit bull was later seized by council rangers.

Fine the dog. Destroy the owner.
