How come? Because of too many races there or just because it's long not-flat and boring?

I'll race if Matthew races. This can be the E Grade hit out of the year!!!
Otherwise I'm off to The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan for a small 2 person 8hr MTB event on Sunday.
Then again looks like I have to get to Mt Annan before 5pm if I want to camp there. Decisions ....

There should be some Valkyries for a WC and WB field too.

I'm racing, Daz! (but it won't be E Grade - more chance of bling for you!)

Both.

It's a good TT course but flat, straight and dull for road racing. Riverina handicaps are similarly flat and straight but benefit from being somewhere else and usually ending near a pub.

Yep and it's at the centre of so many other courses, eg CT's SFP-Picadilly, VCC's Strade Bianche, Amy's Ride, etc so it's overused.

But it is the traditional club champs course so hey.

SimonD

Correction to the junior distance I posted. The junior course is 12km.

CCC says $10 entry, VCC says $5....

enter at the VCC desk - save $5 ;p

SimonD
13-09-2011, 04:51 PM
Contentious topic that! $5 was from the V-Mail, but I think it'll be $10 for all riders.

Scrap the medals in future I say, for as long as I have known - no one really cherishes 'em.

I'm sure we can arrange for this one to end near a pub if there's enough interest...? :vb_cheers:

Alright for you to say, Scotty, some of us haven't "earned" any medals yet. That said, I'd be happy to swap any medal I may earn for a beer at the aforementioned pub.

Kate and I will both be racing. I think Kate will be racing WC as her comeback race after nearly a year off racing and I be dragging at the back of ME.

What time do you reckon the race bus will be getting to SFP? I'd be keen to hop on there if that's OK.

Request from a few people this morning - how about a bus stop at SFP pavilion so people can get on the bus there? I'm guessing a bus departing ANU at 11.15 should be passing SFP at 11.45?
Not sure what the intended route is from there - via Uriarra Crossing is longer, but via Cotter requires a Mt Mac climb.

See the other post about the bus, but I was planning on going via Uriarra Crossing. It is a better warm up ride that Mt Mac. I will swing past the Pav but we usually meet at the gate.

BREAKING NEWS! Medals for Vikings will be presented by Club Captain Chris Drew, Club Smurf Catcher Matty Larkin and if we're lucky, ACTCF Prez Bling Snr (Jim Veal).

Only one problem... the medals are stuck in the centre of Mitchell. So medals tomorrow may be of the chocolate frog kind, but only temporarily. The real things will be presented at Norman breakfast next week or posted if need be.

And we're supposed to believe you this time Simon, or will you conveniently eat all of them on the way to the race again? :tongue2:

MatthewL

I guess it depends on who brings the "medals" out to the race. If I'm transporting them, I can guarantee that you won't have to worry about Simon eating the prizes!! :naughty:

I caught up with a few of the Vikings at SFP after the event. I heard there was a race field of 70+ which is a great turn out. There was a Bingle, not of the Lara kind, in Womens C - with some unrego'd rider causing some bunch chaos.
I'd also love to read any race report/s.

The Bike Jumble for Hartley went OK, lots of interesting stuff, and about $460 raised for the Hartley Lifecare cause.

V quick rundown:

MB: Bos was the only VCC rider in MB, but his run of flat tyres continued (3 out of 3 races!) so unfortunately he DNF'd.

MC / WA: Unregistered rider took out Megan Bagworth (who is OK, just some skin off and a damaged rear derailleur). Brad and Chris D stopped to assist, and then completed the course with Megan but I understand it was pretty slow from then due to the damage to Megan's bike. Andrew T came in 10th overall, and 2nd VCC rider (after Jamie Young). Ailie McDonald won the VCC WA medal (or handshake as the case was) with Megan coming in 2nd. Not sure of any more details from MC / WA.

MD / WB: Good ride was had. The bunch split just after the Condor Creek turnaround and the front group (of 5) managed to stay away. The front group slowly whittled down as the ride progressed, with it coming down to a sprint finish between me and a CCC rider by the name of Matt. I'll let you guess which place I got in that sprint. ;-p Matt Larkin came over the line about a minute later to get 3rd place and 1st VCC rider in MD. Dave Porter survived a series of magpie attacks to come 2nd. The WB ladies did really well, with Ingas and Lucy Kirk taking out 2nd and 3rd, followed closely by world champ Sue Powell.

ME / WC: I'm not sure if we had any VCC ME riders today with Dave P being a recent promotion to MD. So sorry if I've missed anyone! The WC ladies did a stellar job - Kate (sorry I can't remember your surname) coming in 1st well clear of the field. Kate Molineaux (2nd) did brilliantly to recover from an initially slow start and chase down the field and then work with Tegan E and Anna Peterson for the rest of the race. I think Tegan took out 3rd just before Anna.

All in all it was a great afternoon of racing and it was lovely being out in the sunshine after what felt like a very long and very cold Winter. The wind was, well, windy, but I guess things like that make bunch positioning so very important on a day like today. Thanks to the CCC for putting on a good race and to all the VCC riders who got out and raced and congrats to our new club champs. :vb_cheers:

Sounds like another smart race, Lisa. You're certainly talented at picking the winning move - not bad for someone who apparently doesn't think much about tactics!! Gotta be in it to win it Nige, well done!

Sorry to hear about the crash. I hope Megan and the other rider are not too worse for wear. Good show to the boys for stopping to help out.
