Race report
A cool start and slight breeze saw the running of Canberra's flattest road race.
As expected, bunches stayed completely intact except for a few exceptions who suffered detachment on the rise from the Pt Hutt turn.
In MA, Nathan Haas led out the sprint from the bottom of lookout hill with Matt Rittzuto making a gutsy effort to come over. However, Haas, the NRS Genesys Wealth Adviser team rider put on the afterburner to stay clear over the line with Mick Tolhurst rolling over for 3rd just ahead of David Gillies.
The MB starters managed to stay with the MA bunch with Ben Carmody crossing the line 5th overall to take out the B grade event.
MC provided the biggest bunch of the day with the bunch hitting the bottom of the hill together. The finishing line proved just too far up lookout hill for Andrew Snaidero with the Jason Mahoney timing his sprint to the line perfectly to come over a slowing Andrew Snaidera with Andrew Thaller coming in 3d.
WA rode with MC, the sole WA survivor, Jess Maclean, coming over the line 4th in the MC bunch.
The 2 lap D/E/WC event saw the only break of the day with a solo Damon Smith taking the win, and Adrain Plumb winning the sprint to claim 2nd. Dwaine McMaugh took 3rd with Ingrid Kimber coming in 4th in the bunch to claim WB. Matthew Larkin finished with the D grade bunch to take out E grade.
The other E grade entrant, Adam Gwynne riding a solo race to finish 2nd in E.
WC rider, Anna Johnston was also detached from the stronger riders but rode strongly to take out her classification.
