Being held in Goulburn. Anyone interested in mounting a raiding party? What are the fields usually like??

It's usually an awesome race Matthew. Highly recommend it. (Sadly, will be OS by then.)
The MACT folks usually turn up and take a few medals -- we won points championship a couple of years ago.
What age group are you in (if you don't mind us asking?). It's always good to get to know the other folks in your race and hatch a plan.

So how old do you have to be to be eligible to race Masters? I'll be 31 by then.

I think nationally they still do M1: 30-34, internationally it's only M2+ as it's generally recognised if you're under 35 you are still in your peak. This race includes M1 so you're all good if you want to race with the more mature folk ;p

Fields can be large, sometimes 60 to an age grade. Generally the field size ramps up from small numbers in M1, to the largest fields in M3 and M4 before tailing off again to small fields in M8.
Fields in the women's grades tend to be smaller. They will always award medals for each grade, but generally where the numbers are low (men or women) they will combine age groups to form a larger race.
This race will be on my 'must do' calendar for this year. It comes a couple of weeks after the Canberra Tour and it will be great to get to race on a new course. It will also be nice to support a race run by the Goulburn club.

I'm revised also.
I don't want to race a 102k and I don't want to pay $75 for a dinner I won't be at.

+1 on Startrek's comments. 102km is the 'correct' length for a master's National Champs race!
Ironically, I'm not sure if I'm going to make it either :(
Am I reading it right that womens masters are only doing 57km? Sort of sounds like fun even though with my break from training I'll prob get slaughtered...
The course would probably suit you Rach, only a couple of shortish not too steep hills, nothing like Cotter-Uriarra-3 Sisters.
The guys course is a bit longer and a bit hillier, especially after Bungonia but still not as bad hill-wise as Canberra. Quite windy though which the locals reckon is normal.

small entry field atm you could win (http://www.nsw.cycling.org.au/cy_nsw/races/?f=2011/11070/11070.htm)
I've entered the RR only. The crit would be fun but its another day travelling and that little bit further to go (Marulan?)

That's good news Sue I thought you may be away racing yes the crit is about 20 km up the road, not sure where exactly. They did try and get it in Goulburn but the cost of doing it was to much.
I just fits in between our world cup in Sydney 4-6th May and then heading off overseas on the 22nd May for races in Italy, Switzerland and then 2nd world cup in Spain.
Will be good training for the smaller bunches and flatter races that we will be getting in the world cups and world champs this year.

Yes $75 is a bit steep for the entry fee, I for one am getting a little sick of Masters riders being ripped off,we were charged $45 for each event at the track nationals.
Good on the Goulburn Club for putting on the event.
The NSW Elite Championship's entry is only $30!!!!!., why are we paying so much more?.
To put it in perspective, you pay $25 for each day for the Coota Haycarters weekend with $2500 prizemoney up each day, being a hcp theoretically you have a pretty good chance of bringing home some dollars.
If I'm a good girl I'll get to go to Denmark in August.......

Be good then!!
The CT is $110 for two days of racing (if you were doing the RR and crit for NSW masters it would be $105) so seems around the going rate. I agree that it does seem a bit steep though, specially if the equivalent elite race is only $30.

It includes dinner .does that help.

The $110 for the CT includes 3 races. So and extra race for just $5.
If the NSW road champs also had the ITT and charged $110 for all 3 events then I think it would be good value, esp with the dinner!
Don't know why that don't hold the ITT at the same place and w/e as the RR and Crit.

Don't forget that entries close on May 1 - looks like I won't have much company at this rate!
