Hi,

I am an elite U23 MTB XC rider from the UK and I am looking at coming over to Australia from December-March to train during the northern hemisphere’s winter. I am aiming to be the second ranked GB rider by the end of the year to qualify for selection for the Olympics in 2012, and I am hoping that training in Australian during our winter will help to give me a physical edge. I have been told from a number of people that Canberra would be a great base, with good access to road and mtb training and gym facilities.

I will be travelling with my brother who is also an elite MTB XC rider and Xterra triathlete. We are trying to find somewhere that will be cheap and convenient to stay, as we are on a tight budget and we don’t want to have to drive to get places everyday.

Can you possibly help us in any way with trying to find cheap accommodation? So far our internet searches have only really come up with holiday lets which are too expenses, maybe house sharing or minding could be an option. I would be grateful for any suggestions and if you could perhaps ask your club to see if anyone has any accommodation.

Any help would be fantastic.

Thank you,
