So I went for a spin this morning and it was an interesting experience. It actualy wasnt' that bad for most of the ride but I did have one intersting experience.
It is pretty normal for all of use to lean into the wind riding along but going around a corner today I had to lean to the right to turn the left. Bit weird on the balance but it was a new experience for me.
Man, the head wind going out to stromlo was a killer! Apart from the wind it was a pretty nice day though.
It was shocking out there. Coming down Red Hill I was nearly blown clean off the bike. All my descents were taken very slowly today. Scared the bejeezus out of me in the cross-winds today.

I reluctantly threw the leg over the bike at 4.20am this morning to come to work.
I expected the worst.
Luckily the gale force winds were blowing in a near perfect direction for my Downer to Airport commute via Mt Ainslie saddle. I just put the spinnaker up (ie me) and held on. Got here in near record time and minimum exertion despite the rivers of water and fallen trees all over the trail.
Now just gotta wish for a 180 wind direction change by tomorrow night!
I was desecding Black Mt slower than I went up I was that scared of getting blown sideways. Heaps of water on the mountain roads too which made it a bit scarier. Tail-wind or head-wind was ok but the cross-winds were deadly. I ended up doing a 5 peaks variation (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/457194) and was very glad to get a slight tailwind on the way home.

I went trail running up O'Connor Ridge.
Yes, I am a traitor.
