Launch of National Action Plan for Active Transport: Request to attend
media event
Thursday 12 August, 12 noon, Parliament House
Canberra’s five time Tour de France competitor, Stephen Hodge, now
promotes cycling to the Federal Government. He wants you in the media
and on television at the launch of a national action plan for active
transport at Parliament House next Thursday.
In a unique joint partnership for cycling, the Cycling Promotion Fund,
Australian Local Government Association, Heart Foundation, Bus
Industry Confederation and International Public Transport Association
will be launching a major policy for Active Transport into the
election campaign and we would like your help. The launch will be
conducted as a media conference by spokespersons of the main
organisations. We will be inviting the political parties.
When: Around 45 mins to 1 hour, from 11.45 to 12.30.
Who: Pedal Power riders with their bikes. We would prefer cyclists to
be dressed in civilian clothes rather than full ‘lycra’.
Where: On the grass, just below the road around Parliament House (top
of Federation Mall) next to the railing, directly in front of new
Parliament House.
Contacts: Stephen can be contacted for further information on 0411 149
910.

Refer to my post on the potential of having Tony as our PM. Nobody likes 'lycra clad' cyclists. Rather odd given the evidence that we represent the more law-abiding of the cycling sub-cultures (insert source from Monash uni here if anyone can find it).

Nonetheless, Well done Steve Hodge on this and great to see things moving!!

Can I be one of those noddy people you seem to get in every press conference these days. You know the ones that stand behind the leader nodding stupidly (and often out of sync) with everything the person is saying

I'm highly qualified in regards to stupidity. I own a banjo, I drink moonshine and as for my cus.... oh and I work for the public service
