Not for the sprinters. More for pursuiters. This bike would have been used for setting motor paced speed records. One such attempt they laid boards between railway tracks and the cyclist was loco-paced to a cycling speed record

Cripes. What sort of speed would you need to spin out that thing? Actually, is it one of Callahan's fixie builds? I know he like a big gear.

Speed bumps would be a bit annoying too.

i went with a 14 tooth rear. So only 14 metres? So 120 rpm to get to 100km/hr. Not as much as I thought.

Gimmick cranks but non-original and fitted to what is in fact a knackered old 10-speed.
Still... gimmick cranks for US$625... I'd love to have a frame custom-built for 'em.

Did I get the speed calculations right?

199.4 chain inches with a 13t sprocket. 15.9m for you metricists, 114kph at 120rpm.

A good trackie could hold a cadence of 180 - so cycling along for 1.6ks at 150kmh 1 metre behind a train to would be a huge rush!

So what are the cycling speed records? With and without drafting. Recumbent and upright?
