I just noticed this on the Canberra Roadies list. Not good =\

Hello all,

This morning, between 7:00 and 7:30, a number of vehicles parked at
SFP were broken into and items stolen from those cars. Thankfully, no
cars were taken, but quite a few people lost wallets, phones, etc.
It's likely that the thieves took only a few minutes to grab what they
could from the cars without actually climbing in.

If anyone noticed any suspicious behaviour at or around this time,
could you please contact ACT Policing at Woden.

Thanks,
Craig Arthur

This is a pain most of us leave stuff in our cars while we cycle .Not anymore.
I wonder how they broke in did they smash windows or hit older cars .?

That is terrible. I left SFP this morning around 7:15am and didn't notice anything unusual and thankfully no break-ins my end. Which end of the park was it?

I think it's probably up on the MTB side as they know most the riders will be away from their cars for at least 30 mins.

Yup. A**holes seem to have worked this out, I got done over while I was riding at the Scott.

Fortunately, CORC are an amazing bunch and helped me out a lot. (I am forever grateful for it too =D)

This is from today too folks so it looks like it's still occuring;

Guys (and Karen),

I have just had a phone call from a girl who was riding out at Stromlo this morning between 7 and 8am. She has reported that ALL the cars that were parked there (around 6 of them) were all broken into. Car windows were smashed and wallets, iphones and anything else of value were stolen.

Could you please pass this message onto everyone you know who rides out at Stromlo as a warning.

Many thanks,

Hmmm - might set up a timed remote camera (where it can't get stolen ;-)) and see what gives.

We would set up a vigilante mob but the Club Prez has specifically disallowed formation of vigilante mobs in the club constitution.

Not even during a race - unfair! :naughty:
